Safety glass structures

Safety glass is a type of glass which is designed to resist breaking, and to break in a way which minimizes the risk of injuries in the event that the glass cannot withstand the forces which are exerted on it.

Safety glass is also designed to be stronger than conventional glass, reducing the risk of breakage in the first place by being tougher than ordinary glass. Tempered safety glass can handle rapid shifts in temperature along with severe impacts, and laminated safety glass is capable of withstanding heavy impacts as well. Laminated safety glass has another advantage: if a person or object collides with it, the glass will not give way, keeping the object contained.
